Ghajn Tuffieha Tower -  Exploring Malta With 360 Panoramic Technology

17 March 08 - Ghajn Tuffieha Tower a View Over Golden Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha Bay - If you suffer from vertigo, don't tilt the image down!

Slow the image rotation by "left clicking" in the picture and then use "click - hold - drag" to get total control. Use the small tools located bottom left corner to zoom in or revert to auto rotate. The image has a large file size and may take a few moments to load. Try tilting the image down towards the sea to get an idea of how high the cliffs are and the spectacular view from the small plateau where the tower is positioned.

The applet shows a 360 degree panoramic image taken close to the Ghajn Tuffieha Tower located high on the cliffs separating Golden Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha Bay located on the north east coast of Malta. "Ghajn Tuffieha" literally translates into the "Eye of the Apple". This is one of the many towers that were build during the times of the Knights of Malta to warn of Corsair raiding parties and other such scallywags hanging around at that time. A full "e-book" about the Knights of Malta has been published by The Teamusk Times for people interested in that period of history: Knights of Malta, 1523-1798

My original idea was to try and capture a "widescreen" panoramic photo of the now famous Golden Bay Radisson Hotel Complex located on the cliff top overlooking the glorious sandy beach of Golden Bay. This was achieved by rock scrabbling along the bottom of the cliffs and rounding the headline. The Traverse and Rock Scrabble a Cautionary Tale.

Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort & Spa

The most exclusive five-star resort in Malta, the Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort & Spa is located on the edge of a cliff overlooking the unique Sandy Beach. This brand new resort offers unforgettable views of the breathtaking sea and the countryside, alongside luxurious accommodation and the very best in hospitality service.

The average "daily" room rates off-season are around 200 euros rising to over 400 euros in peak season, so luxury really does come at a high price!

Low Cost, Clean and Safety Checked Holiday Apartments in Malta
The resort is a short drive from St. Paul's Bay and the town of Bugibba, where perfectly acceptable self catering accommodation can be booked for as little as 19 euros per day. It takes 15 minutes by bus to reach Golden Bay from Bugibba with regular buses running throughout the day.

NOTE: Sometimes the Google Map fails to load; "right click" inside the box above and select "refresh" from the shortcut menu and things will work fine. Left click will zoom in very, very closely. This is a stunning piece of technology)
