Slow

and sunny day, so once again there's quite a bit of over exposure. However, the
crystal clear blue waters of the Mediterranean are clearly visible.
Valletta is an astonishing place to
visit and well worth the effort. Most bus routes either start or end up in
Valletta which, makes getting there very easy from any place in the
island. A day ticket with unlimited bus rides costs only 3 Euro. For
this small sum you can literally crisscross the whole of Malta in one day.
The City and Architecture

Valletta, the Città Umilissima (Most
Proud City), is Baroque in character. However, it has elements of Mannerism, Neo-Classical with hints of Modern architecture located in selected areas. Valletta did not escape World War II unscathed; although it remained essentially Baroque in character, the war left major scars on the city.
All of the above description
can be translated in one word "awesome". The narrow streets and
tall buildings make every street look unique and the undulating landscape
leading down to the harbour makes walking a little hard going. On the day
I visited it was very hot, but with a steady, cooling sea breeze.
Unfortunately, the concrete footpaths absorb all the heat and my feet were
burnt and blistered quite badly within a short time. Actually, that's why
there's only one photo, also when I setup the tripod in one of the main thoroughfares
a policeman rushed over and insisted I pack up and move on. Strange, but
true.
Gozo tomorrow again I plan to
use the bus route and a short ferry ride.
Probably, NOT one of
my best 360's due to way too much sunlight and burnt blistered feet!
